Projects in Italy
After years of commitment to international cooperation, Casa Costa Foundation ETS has chosen to undergo a profound transformation, putting down roots in the territories where the Costa family operates its hospitality business. Not an abandonment of origins, but an evolution: from aid at a distance to the regeneration of the places we inhabit, through a form of tourism that cares for Soil, Soul, and Society.
Founded as Costa Family Foundation ONLUS with an international vocation, the Foundation has gone through a deep evolution. Today it is Casa Costa Foundation ETS, and its focus has turned to the territories of Alto Adige and Tuscany, where the Costa family runs Hotel La Perla in Corvara and Hotel La Posta in Bagno Vignoni. The choice stems from a clear awareness: the vulnerabilities we addressed in international projects exist here too, often invisible, and tourism — if reimagined — can become an instrument of social and territorial regeneration. Soil, Soul, Society: three pillars for a tourism that does not consume, but gives back.
- Soil: environmental sustainability and circular economy. As in the Cooking Class No Waste project with chef Simone Cantafio, where food surplus from the Michelin-starred restaurant La Stüa de Michil becomes an opportunity for training and meals for those in need. Or as in Buoni e Cattivi (Good and Bad), where we support in Sardinia a hospitality model that teaches a trade to people with difficult histories — and does so to genuine professional standards, not through charitable logic.
- Soul: preservation of the culture and stories of our territories. Giving voice to those who live in them, building bridges between guests and communities. As in Casa Libera Tutti!, where we support the Centro Antiviolenza DAV in Val d'Orcia: a second-stage shelter for women and children rebuilding their daily lives after violence — rediscovering, in a warm and safe space, the strength to start again.
- Society: social inclusion and the dignity of work — and of leisure. Hospitality can become an educational space, as in Vegabula Summer Edition, which guides vulnerable young people toward the world of work through the Brunico Hotel School. It can serve as a starting point for those who do not even have a roof over their heads, as shown by our support for Dormizil in Bolzano, where the Housing First model provides a home before asking anything else in return. And it can open the mountains to those who have historically been excluded: through Montagna per Tutti, in partnership with Fondazione Allianz UmanaMente, we have equipped Alta Badia with the first adapted snowboard system for people with disabilities — because skiing is not a privilege, it is an experience that belongs to everyone.
Casa Costa Foundation ETS is today a laboratory of regenerative tourism: an open experiment working on the boundary between luxury and responsibility, between family business and the common good. A bridge between worlds, where the dignity of the person always remains at the center.
