Mountain for Everyone

Skiing in Alta Badia has never really been an option for many people with disabilities. Not for lack of desire, but for lack of the right tools and expertise. We are trying to change that.
How it works
The project sits within Hol4All, an initiative by Fondazione Allianz UmanaMente that works to make holidays accessible to people and families who are excluded from them — not only for economic reasons, but also due to lack of physical accessibility.
In Alta Badia, Fondazione Allianz UmanaMente has equipped the territory with adaptive skiing equipment and funded the training of ski instructors certified to teach people with disabilities. Not improvised helpers: professionals capable of managing complex clinical situations and guaranteeing a quality experience on the snow.
Casa Costa Foundation ETS completed this picture by funding the purchase of a B.A.S.S. — Borney Adapted Snowboard System, the first assistive device in the world designed specifically to bring people with disabilities to snowboarding. The device has been donated to the territory and will remain available year-round, in the hands of the already trained instructors.
Why we do it
We didn't build this project alone, and we don't claim to have done so. We identified work that was already solid and chose to contribute where there was still a gap: adaptive snowboarding, until now absent from what the territory had to offer.
This is the model we believe in: not to duplicate, not to replace, but to integrate. To bring a precise contribution where it is needed, within networks that already work.
Casa Costa 1956 has built over time an idea of hospitality that extends beyond its own structures — to the territory, the community, and those who live there or would like to reach it. That the mountains should truly be for everyone is not a slogan. It is a direct consequence of how we understand hospitality.
