Fundraising report 2018
It is always a joy every year, in this January-February period, to look back on the year behind us and see the progress we have made together in supporting our vital projects.
2018 was a year of constant activity, of vital exchanges, thoughts shared, and new ideas which drive us forward with great enthusiasm towards new objectives. We are aware that by uniting our strengths, leaning on each other, demonstrating patience and determination, we can go far together.
The total sum of contributions amounted to 118,935.07 euro, 2.3% of the total contributed by the Province of Bolzano, 7.1% (8,590 euro) from the ‘Cinque per Mille’ tax relief declarations, 27.4% from our contribution campaign, from our Christmas charity event, from the San Cassiano market, and from the evening dedicated to women in Corvara. By far the largest part, representing 61.5%, was from voluntary contributions which amounted to 74,879.33 euro. Compared to 2017 we collected 15,333.78 euro more, thanks in no small part from an important contribution coming from the Maratona dles Dolomites and in favour of the Arunachal Pradesh project.
Of the 118,935.07 euro, 86.2% was dedicated to supporting projects in Uganda, India, Afghanistan and Ethiopia. The management costs amounted to 11.1% of the total.
Let’s take a closer look together at these projects.
Let’s start with Afghanistan: we have continued to support the twelve women involved in the “Giallo Fiducia” (“Yellow Trust”) project for the harvesting of saffron (5,000 euro) and the ten women to whom we gave three goats for the micro-credit project (3,000 euro). In India, and with a sum of 25,000 euro, we contributed to the construction of a family house inside the Jhamtse Gatsal community in Arunachal Pradesh, which will host children coming from very difficult backgrounds. In Ethiopia we supported Busajo and Marcella for the building of a new house for the volunteers on Busajo campus, an initiative which takes kids from the street and involves them in an education and reintegration programme. In Uganda we took action on six wells, rendering them operative again, and also helping the local community in agricultural education activity (5,000 euro); together with Sister Itae and her collaborators we continued to provide active support to women affected by HIV and the impact on their families. We did this by organising sewing courses, promoting activity with income opportunities and above all supporting them at a psychological and medical level (25,000 euro). And finally to mention, we repaired the well at the Kautaku school in Karamoja in Uganda (2,790 euro), as well as financing the construction of a shed for House 13, an orphanage building in the Tibetan Children’s Village of Dharamsala in India (2,750 euro).
In the near future we shall update you on projects we intend to develop in 2019, and we are pleased to already announce that we shall organise a course of alphabetisation and political education for the twelve women in Afghanistan, and that we shall continue to keep our focus on education, water and the environment.
Our sincere thanks for your cooperation. Thank you for being alongside us and sharing our belief that it is the small things done well which bring shining results.
Our very best wishes to you
